Job Summary
Registered Nurse is the designation given to an individual who is licensed to practice professional nursing, holds ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, is a graduate of an approved school for professional nursing, and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse pursuant to M.G.L. c.112. Included in such responsibility is providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort, of those they serve.
The Registered Professional Nurse functions as a health care team leader responsible for the safe delivery of patient-centered, goal oriented care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Professional Nurse also directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
The Registered Nurse in the perioperative department at NARH performs in all phases of the perioperative course providing care during the pre-admission testing, preoperative, intraoperative and post operative care of the patient.
Experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Has a thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.
- Minimum of two years perioperative RN experience either in endoscopy or OR preferred.
Education and Training
- Associates Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the nursing process through his/her understanding, judgment and skills.
License & Certification
- RN License - Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts
- CPR
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
- Specialty certification required withing 6 months of eligibility.
Additional Requirements
- Demonstrates continuing education in accordance with State regulations. Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the position can be fully met.

- Demonstrated professional communication with all internal and external contacts.

- Shift 1 24, 6:00am-2:30pm, 6:30am-3:00pm, 7:00am-3:30pm, 7:30am-4:00pm, 8:00am -4:30pm, 0830am- 05:00pm
