Position Summary:
The Radiology Technician is a non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Radiology. This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The individual must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action when necessary. Essential functions include reviewing patient history and physician's orders, as well as educating patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure their understanding and cooperation. When ordered, the Radiology Technician is responsible for preparing and administering contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice, while continually monitoring the patient’s condition and reporting/responding to any changes in status. Additionally, the Radiology Technician prepares equipment and supplies, selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters, and ensures safety standards are implemented. They perform necessary quality control procedures on equipment, troubleshoot any malfunctions, and report issues as needed. The role involves positioning patients and performing imaging procedures, analyzing results, and addressing issues with image quality by taking appropriate action, such as repositioning the patient and repeating the procedure. The Radiology Technician enters, transmits, and reports scan results, performing various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable standards of practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Graduate of Program in Discipline, required or validated by current licensure
- Alabama State Radiation Operators License or Temporary Alabama State Radiation Operators License
- ARRT to be obtained within 6 months of hire
- (BLS) Basic Life Support required within 90 days of hire
