What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Assembly Operations (Internal Applicants Only) position at North American Rescue?
SUMMARY
This NAR Associate participates as a TEAM member within the Operations Department and works to ensure and foster the business relationship and partnership with NAR business partner South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department (SCVRD). This position’s primary purpose is to oversee all activities that relate to converting “raw” and “work in process” components and products into assembled “finished goods” that meet and exceed established quality requirements.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities. Projects/duties may be modified/changed/added/deleted as needed.
· Understands NAR Products as directed (specifications/tolerances/lot control, etc.) and their quality requirements
· Understands NAR Product “direct packaging” requirements, such as those that must be vacuum packed, and non-vacuum packed
· Understands the related, necessary production and assembly processing requirements that NAR Products must undergo and the corresponding processes including various vacuum packaging methods
· Develops, communicates, and documents training instructions and procedures for all those under direction to complete production and assembly tasks
· Directly supervises fellow NAR Associate(s) as assigned
· Directly coordinates with SCVRD Supervisory personnel-related work schedule and process training requirements
· Works directly with SCVRD Supervisory personnel to determine “piece rate” cost trial(s) and ultimate recommendation on behalf of NAR and SCVRD and submits information to the NAR VP, Operations
· Completes all data summary tasks whether on-line or paper hard copy as directed and in a timely manner
· Understands NAR scheduling process and related “authorization to build” information; communicates, coordinates, schedules, and plans with SCVRD Supervisory personnel to meet product production and assembly requirements to meet company requirements and to minimize and prevent back orders to “External Customers”
· Works with the VP and OPS to determine what assembly(s) may be more cost effectively obtained outsourced vs. completed in house
· Ensures that OPS Assembly Department has all the necessary tools/equipment/quality measurement devices needed to complete related processes; monitors the good working order of and the preventative maintenance scheduling requirements of same
· Cooperates with fellow Operations Department team members and all other NAR Associates to provide “Internal Customer” support, as required
· Cooperates, takes direction, and supports Vice President, Operations and all other executive management personnel, as a means to support internal and external budgetary financial goals
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Completes any tasks and/or projects assigned by supervisor
· Other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY
· Executes approved “authorization to build” product production and assembly schedules
· Develops and implements associated work instructions and procedures related to all production and assembly tasks for both NAR and SCVRD personnel who will be completing related tasks; and approves any/all related labor invoices
· Coordinates and manages the acceptance and approval process; performs the ultimate selection of “qualifying” personnel to complete production and assembly related tasks
· Trains, directs, and supervises NAR production and assembly associate(s), as directed
· Trains, directs, and coordinates the activities of SCVRD supervisory personnel for all tasks related to the production and assembly of NAR Products and the packaging thereof
ACCOUNTABILITY
· Ensures that all processes related to production and assembly of NAR Products and the packaging thereof, are “capable” to enable required quality specifications to be met and/or exceeded
· Ensures that all who complete tasks related to production and assembly of NAR Products and the packaging thereof, have been appropriately trained and “qualified”
· Ensures that all NAR Products that are internally produced and assembled meet and/or exceed required quality requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, and/or related field is preferred
Competency and Skills
· Demonstrates knowledge and basic experience in MS-Excel spreadsheet creation and interpretation
· Possesses strong quality orientation, attention to detail, and a personal desire to meet and exceed requirements

Experience
· Minimum of five years of experience in supervisory role in a product production and/or assembly environment
· Job shop and production schedule execution experience required
Specific Characteristics
· Ability to learn/become a trained “trainer” for those under personal direction in all NAR Quality System requirements, and related: FDA compliance requirements, ISO-13485/ISO-9001, and ECE-R43 quality doctrines as they are applied locally
· Demonstrated ability to respond effectively and courteously to all Internal Customers, Stockholders, External Customers (should they be contacted), business partner(s) (SCVRD), suppliers
· Consistently applies excellent communication skills: both oral and written
· Builds and maintains effective working relationships

Time and Availability
· Must be able to work a normal work schedule unless otherwise directed
· May be occasionally required to extra hours and weekends as job duties demand

· Must have transportation to and from main facility at 35 Tedwall Ct in Greer, SC
