Summary
As a Patient Advocate at North American Specialty Hospital, you will be instrumental in guiding patients through their healthcare journey. This role is vital in ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care while navigating their treatment options and understanding their rights.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for patients, addressing inquiries and concerns throughout their treatment process.
- Assist patients in understanding their rights and responsibilities within the healthcare system.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure seamless communication regarding patient needs and treatment plans.
- Facilitate access to resources such as medical records and insurance information for patients.
- Provide support in navigating complex healthcare processes including case management and referrals.
- Educate patients on available services and specialty pharmaceuticals offered by NASH.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
- Gather feedback from patients to improve service delivery and advocate for their needs.
- Assist patients with travel plans as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience in patient advocacy or a related field within healthcare settings. Previous Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
- Strong understanding of medical records management and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Experience in case management or social work is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10) is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to empathize with patients and provide compassionate support during their healthcare journey.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently.
