What are the responsibilities and job description for the SKP Floor Operator position at North American Stainless?
The Skin Pass 2 operator is responsible for all of the operating functions of the Skin Pass 2 Mill listed below. Operation of the mill must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals as outlined in our quality system. All functions of the unit are to be carried out as described in the work instructions.
DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Check coil to be run for proper identification and inspection which corresponds to the program.
2.Load and center coils on tension or payoff reel as applicable. Then feed coil through mill to opposite tension reel.
3.Insert work rolls to the mill. Periodic gauge references may be necessary to be made during rolling.
4.When the mill is stopped at prescribe intervals as indicated in work instructions, inspect both the top and the bottom face of the strip for rolling defects. Make any necessary adjustments to insure the quality of the strip.
5.Once coil is completed, remove from tension reel, band, and identify as per work instructions.
6.Utilize paper/plastic interleaving as per work instructions
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Coordinate coil and roll movements with crane operators
2.Change rolls in the mill box as necessary.
3.Grease the mill as indicated in work instructions.
4.Perform daily checks as appropriate checklists indicate.
5.Mix batch rolling emulsion solution.
6.Perform maintenance work as assigned.
7.Maintain proper housekeeping throughout the entire work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
High school degree or equivalent (GED)
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Mobility: Stand (stationary) - 10-20%, stand/walk - 20-40%, walking - 10-20%, sitting - 10-60%
2.Strength and Agility: Occasionally lifting up and carrying 70 lbs over a distance of 10 feet, and pushing or pulling 50 lbs. Occasional climbing, bending, twisting, kneeling, turning, stooping, crouching, and balancing
3.Dexterity: Grasping (firm/strong), finger dexterity/handling, reaching
