What are the responsibilities and job description for the NBES K-5 sub separate Special Education Teacher position at North Brookfield Elementary School?
Create a structured, safe and predictable learning environment that supports students in improving their academic skills and individual achievement through specialized instruction
Maintain students in the classroom setting by providing appropriate behavioral supports to foster and promote effective student behavior and success
Stabilize disruptive behaviors and teach alternative, appropriate behaviors using behavioral programming and reinforcement; utilize effective de-escalation and safety care interventions, as needed to ensure student safety
Provide a home base for students who will transition to and from the general education setting as appropriate; collaborate and consult with general education teachers to monitor student access and success in the general education setting
Liaison responsibilities include develop,write and implement IEPs, provide student programming as identified in the IEP; chair IEP meetings for students on caseload or being evaluated for eligibility
Collect, graph, and analyze data to monitor student progress on an ongoing basis
Conducts appropriate evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services
Collaborate and communicate effectively with related service providers, BCBA, parents, and other stakeholders to address students’ individual needs
Instruct and direct assigned ABA paraprofessionals based on students’ IEP needs within the program and in inclusion settings
Assists and collaborates with others in resolving the unique behavioral and educational needs of each student in the program; serves as a resource for students in the SST process
