HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER
North Broward Preparatory School is seeking a high school English teacher with experience and expertise teaching high school students with a range of abilities in English/ language arts courses. Required experience includes knowledge and/or experience teaching high school students as they grow in reading skills, the writing process, research skills, vocabulary acquisition, listening and speaking, and citizenship. Experience teaching English courses in the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) is highly desirable. Candidates will also need excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, the desire to work on a collaborative team, and strong emotional intelligence.

ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY
- Articulate the Mission, Vision, and Values of the school and Nord Anglia, both verbally and in writing.
- Understand all elements, goals, instructional best practice strategies, embodied in the academic plan, as well as the ability to clearly articulate the plan to parents and students.
- Teacher Appraisal and Professional Development
- Walkthrough evaluations with academic leaders
- Parent satisfaction survey
- Student feedback surveys
- Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate sanctions that are clearly articulated to the students.
- ▪Encourage students to ask questions and to express their difficulties.
- Know and use a wide range of formative and summative assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives.
- Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructive.
- Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students
- Identify students who need additional academic assistance and be able to refer such students appropriately.
- Incorporate all four skills (listening, writing, reading, speaking) into classroom instruction.
- Develop unit and daily lessons that engage students in higher order thinking (refer to Bloom's Taxonomy) personalizing instruction based on student need.
- Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate.
- Effective organizational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, developing and implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing formative and summative assessments
- Ability to monitor student progress, provide feedback to students, and report information in a timely manner
- Create an environment that fosters a growth mindset.

- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with the International Baccalaureate program not required but helpful.
- Technology savvy; you are willing and able to learn new technologies quickly.
- Familiarity with Rubicon Atlas Maps and/or developing standards-based unit plans
- Strong proficiency with Canvas learning management system preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.
- Excellent cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
- Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
- Results-orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
- Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
