Primary Purpose of Position
The Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University has proudly maintained accreditation by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) since 1979. The Accounting accreditation has been in place since 1986. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation occurred in 2021. The leadership team for the Deese College includes the Dean, Associate Dean of Research, Operations, and Faculty Development, the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Student Success, the Assistant Dean/MBA Director, the MACC Director, the Director of the Transportation Institute, five academic Chairpersons, about 14 administrative services staff and 2 technical services staff.
The University is on a journey to become a Research 1 (R1) institution. As a tenure track faculty member they will be responsible for continuously publishing in high-quality peer reviewed journals while developing and delivering high-quality course content in their field at the undergraduate and graduate levels both on campus and online. In addition to carrying out impactful teaching and research, faculty members are expected to actively engage in service to their Department, College, University, community, and profession. Faculty are expected to engage with external partners and support grant and external funding opportunities.
The Associate Dean of Research, Operations, and Faculty Development develops and implements research and innovation strategies for the Deese College and supports leadership and faculty to enhance the College’s research and scholarship portfolio. As a member of the dean’s senior leadership team, the Associate Dean provides executive management advice to the interdisciplinary research and scholarship enterprises within the College as well as working with university partners to more seamlessly integrate research and academic innovations.

The Associate Dean of Research, Operations, and Faculty Development works closely with the Dean to develop and coordinate the school’s annual academic and operating planning process, forecast and predict resource requirements for new and existing programs, and develop strategies for improvement. The position collects, analyzes, and reports data essential to development and refinement of innovative and impactful academic programming.
The Associate Dean oversees the colleges grant administrator and supervises support staff who reside in the Associate Dean’s office.

Minimum Requirements
The position requires a terminal degree in field appropriate for the college and professional accomplishments appropriate for an appointment at the level of Associate Professor or higher in one of the academic departments in the College of Business and Economics.
Applicants should also possess leadership, communication, teamwork, and other skills consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
Candidate must also have a strong record in teaching, research and service.
