Primary Purpose of Position
The Alvin V. Blount, Jr. Student Health Center is seeking to hire a seasoned leader and researcher with exceptional community building skills to assume the primary responsibility for the oversight and execution of operations, fiscal management, and continued strategic planning for the HBCU Health Equity Data Consortium (HEDC).
This individual will serve as a key catalyst to build and strengthen the underserved community of Consortium partners. This director is also responsible for seeking additional grants and funding for the Student Health Center and developing the vision of the HBCU Health Equity Data Consortium (HEDC) to become a self-perpetuating organization. The director will oversee the infrastructure necessary to execute the mission and vision of the organization.

The Director of Research Operations for the Alvin V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center drives the development, implementation, and measurement of a strategic plan for the HBCU Health Equity Data Consortium research unit, engages the management team, consortium members, and other relevant stakeholders in this process.
The director will define the relationship and parameters between the management team, and consortium membership leaders and staff to include roles, responsibilities, and decision rights of each group, its members and staff; manages the financial resources of the organization, evaluates and implements the most effective governance and organization structure for carrying out the mission of the organization; identifies, recruits and develops staff and external resources required to execute the mission.
This position is also responsible for grant acquisition to help sustain the consortium

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of the Alvin V. Blount, Jr. Student Health Center at North Carolina A&T State University is to provide health care for its population of over 14,400 students. The SHC encompasses delivery of acute medical care, preventive medical care, health education, mental health care, laboratory, and pharmaceutical services. The SHC also provides advisory and educational assistance to university departments such as Athletics, Campus Recreation Center, Center for Academic Excellence and other departments that request educational programs. The SHC is fully accredited by AAA (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) and provides services according to recommended standards in order to accommodate the unique needs of each individual student.
Minimum Requirements
- PhD from an accredited university in business, accounting, public administrator or related field.
- 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in contract and or grants management, managing grants at a grant-seeking or other grantmaking institution, or related work
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to work and interact with diverse populations.
- Computer literacy (proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Office).
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities.
- Ability to network with community partners and agencies and maintain the working relationships.
- Understanding of the role that grants management plays in fulfilling the vision of an organization or unit and an interest in ensuring alignment of grantmaking practice with organizational values.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in contract and or grants management or managing grants at a grant-seeking or other grantmaking institution.
- Proficiency in data management and database systems
- Proficient in budget management
- Understanding of health equity concerns and vulnerable populations
