Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of HBCU STEM Leadership, working closely with the PI, will oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of strategic initiatives for the Center for the Advancement of STEM Leadership (CASL) Education unit.

With a strong focus on supporting HBCUs and STEM leadership, this position will ensure operational excellence and program success.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Director of HBCU STEM Leadership will serve as a key leader within the Center for the Advancement of STEM Leadership’s (CASL) Education Unit, housed at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T). CASL’s Education Unit is focused on fostering leadership development in STEM at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through various initiatives, professional development, and innovative educational programming.The grant is housed in the Honors College at NC A&T.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Education, STEM disciplines, Higher Education Administration, or a related field (required).
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously, particularly in educational settings.
- Proven experience in grant writing, securing funding, and writing for publications to document program successes and findings.
- In-depth knowledge of HBCUs and the challenges and opportunities in STEM leadership.
- Experience in developing and overseeing leadership development programs tailored for adult learners, focusing on effective teaching methodologies and learner engagement strategies.
- Working with teams and communications skills.
Years of Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in higher education, project management, or program development, ideally within STEM or related fields.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in a related field (preferred).
Required License or Certification
