Description of Work

The primary purpose of this Correction Enterprise II position is to train and supervise offenders in the installation of custom-built case goods, upholstered furniture, office seating and other wood furniture. The secondary purpose of this position is to train and supervise offenders in the use of installation tools utilized when moving and installing office furniture, cubicles, and other furnishing used in state government facilities. This position trains offenders in unloading, loading, and tracking furniture/cubicle inventories. Position ensures that offenders follow standard operating procedures, OSHA regulations, DAC, and NCCE policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager. The position is subject to overtime if necessary to meet installation schedules. This position works out of the NC Enterprise Warehouse located in Apex, NC and will do installations from the Apex Warehouse in Wake and surrounding NC counties.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:


  • Demonstrated previous supervisory experience.

  • Proven ability to carry out oral and written instructions.

  • Documented knowledge of the installation of furniture, cubicles, and/or other wood products.

  • Demonstrated previous experience utilizing computers at work on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to obtain within 12 months of employment a Class “B” CDL.


Management Preference

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 12 months of employment a Class “B” CDL.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience.

An equivalent combination of training and directly related experience

Necessary Special Requirements

Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission

Plant Specific Special Requirements

Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License
Cannery - Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire
Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification
Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hire
