The primary purpose of this Correction Enterprise II position is to train and supervise offenders in the installation of custom-built case goods, upholstered furniture, office seating and other wood furniture.  The secondary purpose of this position is to train and supervise offenders in the use of installation tools utilized when moving and installing office furniture, cubicles, and other furnishing used in state government facilities. This position trains offenders in unloading, loading, and tracking furniture/cubicle inventories. Position ensures that offenders follow standard operating procedures, OSHA regulations, DAC, and NCCE policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager.  The position is subject to overtime if necessary to meet installation schedules. This position works out of the NC Enterprise Warehouse located in Apex, NC and will do installations from the Apex Warehouse in Wake and surrounding NC counties.

Necessary Special Qualifications  

Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Click HERE for specific certification requirements. Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Must possess a valid driver's license. Pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility. Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment.


This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits

  • Demonstrated previous supervisory experience. 

  • Proven ability to carry out oral and written instructions. 

  • Documented knowledge of the installation of furniture, cubicles, and/or other wood products.

  • Demonstrated previous experience utilizing computers at work on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to obtain within 12 months of employment a Class “B” CDL.


Management Preference
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 12 months of employment a Class “B” CDL.

Plant Specific Special Requirements 

Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License 
Cannery - Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire 
Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification 
Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hire
