What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive MPA (EMPA) Coordinator position at North Carolina Central University?
The Department of Public Administration offers an Executive MPA with three tracks. We train leaders for public service positions in the Research Triangle Area of NC and in the South East region of the United States. Our focus is on providing professional training for public service administrators in all aspects of local, state and federal positions as well as non-profit organizations. We train leaders in public service. The department offers basic public administration academic training in ethics, leadership, budget and finance, as well as, specialty areas in health, urban issues, transportation and economic development. The executive program is self-sustaining through the EMPA Trust fund.

The Executive MPA Coordinator will provide oversight for the EMPA Program's recruitment, academic advising and have a commitment to the NASPAA accreditation process.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
The EMPA Coordinator will be expected to
- teach selected courses
- direct the EMPA program
- manage the day to day activities of the program inclusive of the development and implementation of the speaker series
- communicate with alumni, coordinate seminars such as the annual EMPA leadership workshop and the annual international experience
- collect and analyze data used to drive decisions
- coordinate program review and assessment of EMPA program
- develop productive internal and external relationships
- use recruitment and retention strategies to ensure the success of student learning outcomes
- Applicants should have experience teaching at the graduate level
- Applicants with the following certifications are preferred but not required: Quality Matters, ACUE, Teaching Certificate
- Application should have 1-3 years experience with Canvas Learning Management System
- Bachelor's degree required in Public Administration or related field.
- Master's degree (Preferred) in Public Administration or related field.
