Description of Work
This position is located at the North Carolina Correction Enterprises Metal Plant at Anson Correctional. This position the center point of all functions and oversee all aspects of the NCCE Metal Plant. This position oversees a large metal fabrication operation. The NCCE Metal Plant manufactures a variety of metal products including benches, tables, serving lines, and many custom items. This position is responsible for the daily operation of the plant and oversee NCCE and offender staff. This position must use planned strategy, manage inventory balances, maintain a safety program work plan for the training of employees and offenders; raw material purchasing, plant processing scheduling, personnel management and review of work performance.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits
As of January 1, 2025 there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $48,222 - $84,388. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.
Necessary Special Qualifications
- Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Click HERE for specific certification requirements.
- Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility.
- Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment.

- Proven prior supervisory experience.
- Proven welding or metal fabrication experience
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Demonstrated inventory management and production planning experience.

Associate degree in Applied Science in industry related field and a minimum of two years of experience in related line of production/service, and two years of management experience

Plant Specific Special Requirements
Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License
Cannery - Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire
Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification
Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hir
