This serve as the key point of contact for the State Capitol Police by managing the workflow of the unit by processing the necessary documentation related to personnel transactions and performing a variety of administrative tasks which requires substantive knowledge of DPS and OSHR policy, office processes, and procedures. This position is located in Raleigh, NC (Wake County).

About The State Capitol Police
State Capitol Police Section provide police protection and security for state employees and visitors as well as state owned and leased property; to conduct crime prevention and employee safety programs; to provide investigatory services for criminal activities occurring on state government property; to provide executive protection for federal, state and local government officials and other visiting dignitaries to state property; to monitor fire and intrusion alarms; and to notify appropriate resources for incidences such as fire, broken water lines, power failure and malfunctioning mechanical equipment during both business and non-business hours.

DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.

Job duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Serves as the SCP Human Resources Technician responsible for preparing all paperwork for Central HR staff to include: OM Action Request, Personnel Action Request, Recruitment/Selection Processing, Time/Leave Troubleshooting, Benefits information source, Office Administration duties, records maintenance/retention, and reporting.
- May serve as a confidential assistant to the Administrative Lieutenant, provides clerical and administrative support as needed, answers the phone, and provides customer service for State Capitol Police employees and the public as needed.
- Independently maintains a filing system of all personnel matters in accordance with State Capitol Police and Departmental policies in addition to creating and maintaining tracking systems to track processes within the Personnel unit.
- Ability to gather, compile and evaluate position and employee information.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to handle confidential matters with tact and discretion; to express ideas clearly and concisely; to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within area of responsibility; able to learn and apply rules, procedures, and practices for various human resources management activities or personnel actions.
