NCDOT is seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in human resources and a desire to assist Division 14 employees. The Division 14 FMLA Coordinator is a non-supervisory position assigned to the Division 14 Office. The position administers the provisions granted to employees under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to all Division 14 employees. It also administers all other LOA programs including STD, LTD and Workers Comp. Another primary function is the processing and completion of separation actions.The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an HR Technician III coordinating the areas of LOA and FMLA. Most of the work time will be spent as the FMLA coordinator, but additional duties will include qualification review and salary administration as needed. This requires reviewing applications to determine qualification status of applicants, as well as reviewing hiring packages to ensure compliance with merit-based hiring practices. Additional responsibility includes the review of salary recommendations to ensure compliance with salary administration policies. The position will also serve as a backup to the division approver for PA/OM actions using the state’s Human Resources Information System Fiori (formerly known as BEACON).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

- Working knowledge of LOA policies such as FMLA, Extended Illness, STD, LTD, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to handle time sensitive and confidential human resources information
- Experience providing customer service for human resources related issues
- Experience composing written communication using MS Word and Outlook and using MS Excel to create spreadsheets
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience required; or 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
