Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience in customer service related to resolving problems that involves explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups.
- Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Computer experience includes office software and drafting software.
Additional Expectations:Possess a working knowledge of contract resurfacing and pavement preservation operations. Ability to plan and coordinate work of others. Ability to resolve routine problems and can effectively communicate more complex problems to supervisors to assist in resolution. The ability to effectively communicate, establish, and maintain working relationships with contractors, department, local government and other non-DOT personnel, and the general public. Ability to complete project documentation electronically using a computer or iPad and using SharePoint and HiCams programs. Safety shoes required.
Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree in an applicable area of engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution and (6) six years of progressive technician experience; or
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and (8) eight years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
