Essential Job Duties
This position serves as a catering event coordinator for Rave! Catering. Responsible for coordinating a variety of catered events for campus and ensuring that each event is set up and runs smoothly.
Duties include, but are not limited to,
- Organize all staff, equipment and logistics of events, as well as, the pre-event logistics that include entering data information into the EventMaster software system.
- It is critical to ensure everything that is needed for a particular event is on hand or is ordered in a timely manner to make each occasion successful.
- Professional and friendly customer service is critical for the success of this role and in representing RAVE! catering for the University.
- Supervise the events and follow-up with clients. This position must understand the catering menu and be knowledgeable about menu selections based on the event and setting. It is an expectation for this role to initiate creative ideas for event set up, presentation, and flow.
- Manage and run events that vary from small break services to large plated meals. These events may have no staff to assist or you may be overseeing and supervising many to ensure the success of the event.

- Understand the goals and culture of the organization, and understand how employees’ work activities, teamwork, and customer service impact clients. Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.
- Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols, including Rave! Catering dress code.
- Due to operational needs of the NC State Dining department, an employee may be assigned to work in any NC State Dining department including, but not limited to special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure NC State Dining business needs are met.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Required Qualifications
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, peers and supervisors; and professionally communicate with multiple levels of employees within the University.
- Must follow written and verbal instructions.
- Provide outstanding customer service, including the ability to remain professional and respectful under pressure when dealing with difficult situations, to team and customers.
- Demonstrated excellent organization skills.
- Accurate data entry and timely completion of data entry.
- Excellence in completing all tasks and performance goals.
- Must be able to professionally collaborate with colleagues, and be part of a team environment.
- Requires bending, twisting, pulling and pushing.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds above head and up to 60 pounds on rare occasions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous catering sales experience in a restaurant, hotel or conference center, or catering organization.
- This position is responsible for initial contact with customers and must have expert knowledge of Rave! Catering.
- Proficient in the use of computers and have the ability to learn new software programs.
Required License or Certification
- Valid Driver’s License required. State vehicle furnished to drive to events or other Campus Enterprises locations.
- ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.
