Operator/Laborer

North Central Aggregates has been a family-owned company since 1992 that is a regional supplier of sand, gravel and other aggregate products in Northern Wisconsin and Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

North Central Aggregates is looking to add to our team and is accepting applications for a Operator/Laborer. This position will be based at our home location in Iron River, WI.

Work area will be defined via project work but in a Geographical Area concentrated in Northern Wisconsin and Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Travel will be required based on a project to project basis.

Plant Operator with Mobile Crushing, Washing, or Screening Crew: Performs the day-to-day activities on site . Laborer duties will be included in this position.

Must be able to provide transportation to and from work. Prompt and on-time.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains equipment in proper working order.

Maintains and reviews maintenance logs for repairs.

Uses safe practices in all activities.

Must be a self starter with initiative and drive.

Works well with others both co workers and customers.

Quality and safety mindset.

Equipment Operation: Loader, conveyors, screens, crushers, generators, and motors

· Plant Ground Laborer duties:

o Keep site clean

o Uses shovels or mechanical equipment to remove excess material from beneath the plant

o Loads and delivers materials.

o Performs light maintenance

o Lubricates parts.

o Ensures compliance to all health and safety, environmental policies and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Thorough understanding of production operations and machinery

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

· Ability to trouble shoot and problem-solve

· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· 1-3 Years. Experience running a plant including crusher or wash plant is ideal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be able to traverse the production facility

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

· Interacts frequently with Safety, Quality, Subcontractors, Management, and Administration

Travel Requirements: 50-75%

Additional Requirements:

· Comprehensive knowledge of quarry operations and crushing operations to finished wash products

· Obtain knowledge of state, federal and company safety requirements and programs

· Experience with customer service and equipment operation and maintenance.

· Knowledge in Quarry and Sand/Gravel processing with crushers and wash plants.

· Strong understanding of screening aggregates.

· Mechanical aptitude.
