LOCATION Based in Santa Fe with responsibility for all counties served by NCNMEDD

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for oversight of Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging (Non-Metro AAA) providers including assessments, technical assistance, training, and program and policy compliance.

Responsible for assessments, technical assistance, program and policy compliance for Non-Metro AAA providers 60%

Serves as the primary point of contact for AAA providers and activities in the Planning and Service Area (PSA) 30%

Assistance with Non-Metro AAA program duties as assigned

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

The Regional Manager position requires a highly motivated and responsible individual with good leadership and time management skills. Leadership qualities and strong communication skills are required. This position requires frequent travel throughout Planning and Service Area 2 (PSA 2), which includes San Juan, McKinley, Cibola, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, Valencia, Torrance, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Taos, Colfax, Union, Mora, San Miguel counties.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for Non-Metro AAA providers within the Planning and Service Area (PSA).

· Serve as the emergency point of contact for the PSA.

· Help coordinate meetings, events, and activities within the PSA, including but not limited to Advisory Committee/Provider meetings and trainings, health fairs, educational activities, and volunteer activities.

· Oversee AAA committees for the PSA, including the Advisory Council’s PSA subcommittee

· Accept, document and investigate complaints or concerns as determined by the Assistant Director or Director

· Make recommendations to providers/vendors for improvement of service delivery and/or contract compliance

· Provide technical assistance and training for designated providers/vendors

Support consolidation and restructuring of providers as needed

· Assist providers with coordination efforts to improve the service delivery system

· Assist providers in the development of performance and effective managerial skills

· Monitor provider’s goals and objectives for compliance

· Make recommendations and/or revisions to assist providers/contractors with their goals

· Evaluate the employees that are being supervised by this position at least annually or as determined necessary

· Coordinate with ALTSD and other agencies and organizations on an as needed basis

· ssist in identifying provider needs in relation to capital outlay and asset management

· Make presentations as directed

· Collaborate with local, state entities to identify the interests and priorities of communities and implement plans, programs and projects

· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies

· Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

· Other duties as assigned or necessary to meet the goals and objectives of NCNMEDD

SKILLS REQUIRED

Specific to Position

· Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and five years of experience with Aging services including supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Advanced office and computer skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and use of databases

· Good managerial and supervisory skills

· Ability to make good, sound judgment decisions

· Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands

· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

· Ability to exercise initiative and communicate effectively with superiors regarding responsibilities

· Knowledge of problem-solving techniques

· Maintain effective working relationships with NCNMEDD staff, contractors, agency partners, and Board members

· Ability to design corrective action for solutions to problems and advance the effectiveness of programs

· Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and policies

· Experience with budgeting principles and practices

· Good oral and written communication skills

· Ability to work and perform in conflict/crisis environments

· Knowledge of program planning concepts, principles, and practices

· Valid Driver License

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises up to six staff members, including Provider Specialists, Consumer Coordinators, and Case Managers, as well as volunteers.

TRAVEL

This position requires travel throughout New Mexico and for professional development. A valid driver’s license is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires basic physical demands for working in an office environment including, sitting for long periods, using computers and other typical office equipment, driving a car/van, carrying documents, and walking.

TRAINING

· Training in the Older Americans Act is required for this position. Standard training for all employees will be applied to this position as well as any training deemed beneficial by management in the future.

· HIPAA training is required for this position.

DECISION-MAKING

This position requires the use of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance for the agency and consumers, as well as typical decision-making responsibilities required in a day-to-day office working environment.

COMMUNICATIONS

Reports to the Direct Services Manager and interacts with NCNMEDD employees and contractors, the public, clients and their caregivers, service providers, government agencies, state and local elected officials, and private and/or corporate entities.

EQUIPMENT USED

Typical office equipment will be used such as computers, calculators, phones, copier/printers, projectors, and cars/vans.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will require working in various environments, including clients’ homes, agency offices, outside and public places. This position will work in a standard, smoke-free, indoor office environment with other staff.
