Position Statement
Under the direction of the Director of OTC and in coordination with the other unit staff, the nurse will oversee and coordinate the care given to the patient in the outpatient treatment center. The nurse is to also serve as a patient advocate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships during all interactions while maintaining patient privacy.
- Performs infusions, injections, transfusions, and responds to reactions. Documents these actions in the electronic medical record.
- Performs infusion therapy teaching for patient and family and assures understanding of expected effects and signs with symptoms of adverse reactions.
- Discharges patient with discharge instructions including any teaching, prescriptions and referrals as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Administration Certification or training for part-time and full time RNs.
- Current Vermont RN license
- BLS
- Prefer BSN
