General Responsibilities

LifeSpring is a growing program that assists youth and young adults who are exiting the foster care system as well as youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness / at-risk of homelessness. Under the general supervision of the LifeSpring Program Manager, the therapist assures that all services provided to LifeSpring participants are being implemented through a youth driven, wellness and recovery model that is strength based, culturally relevant, trauma informed, and outcome based that supports self-sufficiency.

The LifeSpring Therapist utilizes evidenced based and / or promising practices as the preferred treatment modality. Provides treatment to LifeSpring participants that may include crisis management and safety planning as well as individual, group, and family therapy.

The LifeSpring Therapist is expected to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team while making appropriate independent decisions for the benefit of the client(s).

Specific Activities

  • Utilize evidence based or promising practices as the preferred treatment modality for crisis management and safety planning as well as individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Utilize therapeutic engagement strategies to build rapport, identify strengths and barriers to participant self-sufficiency, and empower youth to achieve self identified goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and other other clinical evaluation tools to determine the impact of mental health overall functioning.
  • Develop client centered treatment plans.
  • Provide coordination of care with other service providers.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams / collaborative meetings to identify service gaps, barriers, and successes.
  • Participate with care coordination team in crisis management consultation; consults with supervisor when appropriate.
  • Make client referrals to necessary services as appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate document and clinical records management to meet expected deadlines.
  • Participate in required individual and group clinical supervision meetings, in addition to agency or program meetings as needed.
  • Follow all legal and ethical guidelines pertaining to the treatment of youth and families, per state and county requirements (e.g., Child Abuse Report, Records Request, Duty to Warn, Confidentiality, Grievance Procedures, and Serious Incident Reporting).
  • Complete all other duties as assigned, including but not limited providing interim coverage to other departmental positions if appropriate.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Masters in social work or related field.
  • Registered associate with the BBS.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a social service setting working with transitional age youth (TAY), former foster youth and / or youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
  • Experience in group facilitation, engaging diverse groups effectively in various formats.
  • Preferred

  • State-licensed LCSW or LMFT or LPCC, in good standing.
  • A strong background in direct clinical services, client centered approach, trauma, and dual diagnosis.

    Classification Compliance Statement

    This position is intended to be classified as exempt under the administrative exemption provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and California labor laws. To qualify as exempt, employees must meet both the duties test and the salary test, which requires earning a minimum salary of no less than twice the California minimum wage for full-time employment. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000, and offers will be made in compliance with applicable laws to ensure the exempt classification is met. If the exemption criteria are not met, the classification of this position may be subject to change to comply with applicable labor laws, and adjustments to compensation, benefits, or job responsibilities may occur as required.
