Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, the Housing Specialist is responsible for providing supportive services to the residents of the LifeSpring transitional housing program, which is a program for former foster youth. Supportive Services include developing of a sense of community that focuses on safety, providing immediate and / or timely intervention around situations involving residents that are non-compliant with rules and expectations, providing assistance in conflict resolution and crisis intervention. The Housing Specialist will be responsible to collect rent, be the bridge for the residents and apartment manager, conduct apartment inspections at least twice a month to ensure unit cleanliness and monitor for safety. Responsible for adhering to landlord-tenant state laws and maintain regular communication and collaboration with property manager to identify potential tenant issues. Services are to be provided in a trauma informed, client centered, culturally competent manner that is consistent with Lifeline's philosophy and mission.

We're looking for a candidate with strong skills in engagement, crisis intervention, case management, interviewing, rapport building, assessment, goal setting, and youth participation and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular cleanliness inspections.
  • Provide assistance in conflict resolution.
  • Assist resident in developing independent living skills.
  • Housing navigation : work with the resident to develop a housing plan and get them connected to identified housing options. Assist resident in getting on low-income housing lists (CHW, HUD, Section 8, etc.).
  • Coordinate interviews and timely move-ins with residents.
  • Provide transportation of clients to necessary appointments, interviews, events, etc.
  • Track short and long term client progress in ETO as required by contract.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.

Qualifications & Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • BA in social work or related field
  • 2 years relevant experience preferred. Experience working with teens and / or young adults including former foster and probation youth preferred
