As a Veterinary Assistant/Animal Care Assistant, you will be essential in providing high-quality care for animals in a veterinary setting. Reporting to the veterinary team, your core responsibilities will include animal handling, administering medications, and utilizing veterinary terminology. Your premium skills in kennel management and animal husbandry will enhance our facility's operations, while your relevant experience in animal handling and laboratory procedures will support our commitment to animal health. Duties include cleaning, feeding and caring for hospitalized and boarding dogs and cats as well as helping with discharging and admitting animals. Responsible for maintaining hospital cleanliness. Other duties include, but are not limited to, answering the phone and assisting with treatments and restraint of animals. Weekends and holidays are a MUST (but are shared with other staff members) as is being able to work independently. Weekend hours are split shift. Computer skills are needed but will train. Experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right person.
Qualifications
- Veterinary experience and knowledge of veterinary terminology
- Proficient in animal handling and care
- Experience with medication administration and laboratory procedures
- Strong computer skills for managing records and data
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating effective management and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Self-motivated
