Bank of North Dakota (BND) is seeking a Loan Operations Specialist to join our team! The Bank was established to promote agriculture, commerce, and industry in the State. Its loan programs work in conjunction with private financial institutions to finance economic development throughout the State. It is the legal depository for all state funds unless provided otherwise by law. The Bank also serves as a central clearing agency and provides many other services to North Dakota banks and other financial institutions.

Summary of Work
The Loan Operations Specialist will have knowledge and skills to manage transaction processing and daily balancing for BND's extensive loan portfolio, which includes over 115 loan programs encompassing direct, participation, buydown, administered, and student loans.
The Loan Operations Specialist will be responsible for performing daily balancing of the bank's direct, participated, and administered loan portfolio and associated accounts, and processing non-posted transactions. The individual will review and analyze reports to monitor the loan portfolio, validate transactions, and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills to resolve complex loan discrepancies, process loan modifications, move loans into a non-accrual and charge-off status, and assist with projects. This individual will also verify information on loan boarding sheets, activate loans and disburse proceeds for new direct and participation loans. This position will process loan operating system maintenances to maintain integrity of the loan operating systems. This position will train Loan Operations Specialists and may provide backup support to the Lead Loan Operations Specialist.
The selected candidate must have the ability to adapt to changing priorities and have a proven history of being able to complete detailed tasks consistently accurate in a fast-paced environment. They must be an innovative team player with the ability to identify process inefficiencies and provide viable solutions. Strong communication, teamwork, and fostering the Bank of North Dakota's partnerships will be required to provide additional support and participate in extensive collaboration both internally and externally.
Minimum Qualifications
Loan Operations Specialist III requires an associate degree in finance, business, or a closely related field of study and 18 months' work experience in banking involving bookkeeping, bank cashiering, or office support duties. The hiring authority may substitute accredited accounting or banking course work for the required work experience if it provided the knowledge and skills required to perform the core competencies of the position to be filled.
If unable to find a qualified applicant, the hiring team may fill this position as a Loan Operations Specialist II. This position requires an associate degree in finance, business, or a closely related field of study and 12 months' work experience in banking involving bookkeeping, bank cashiering, or office support duties. The hiring authority may substitute accredited accounting or banking course work for the required work experience if it provided the knowledge and skills required to perform the core competencies of the position to be filled.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience in lending, with a focus on processing loan transactions, analyzing financial data, and reconciling loan and accounting reports.
- Experience with participated loan and buydown programs.
- Proficiency in banking software systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment with diverse colleagues and customers. Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks efficiently.
