Summary of Work

As a Pretrial Services Parole and Probation Officer you will provide supervision to individuals placed on pretrial supervision. This includes completing intakes on clients, developing case plans, and overall management of the client's case. This position is also required to complete pre-sentence investigations for the courts, complete risk assessments, and other miscellaneous investigations. This position works closely with all facets of the criminal justice system. Work includes exposure to hazardous conditions potentially resulting in a serious physical injury requiring medical attention, and some lost time from work. Exposure occurs on a periodic or intermittent basis. This position has great deal of interaction with the courts, law enforcement agencies, human service centers, and social services agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for the Parole and Probation Officer II position include a bachelor's degree (preferred in behavioral science, education, or a related field), eligibility for peace officer licensing in North Dakota, and three years of relevant work experience in corrections, law enforcement, social work, education, or behavioral health settings. Candidates must pass a critical task assessment and complete basic peace officer training if unlicensed. Must have a valid class D driver's license.

For the Parole and Probation Officer I position, a bachelor's degree is required (preferred in behavioral science, education or related field), and candidates must also be eligible for peace officer licensing and have a valid class D driver's license.

All candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination, thorough background investigation, drug test, psychological evaluation, and the Critical Task Assessment (CTA) fitness test, which must be completed in under 7 minutes and 15 seconds.
