Summary of Work

In our Business Advisor role, you'll build and maintain strong employer relationships, addressing both current and emerging workforce needs. Be an active community champion by serving on local boards and councils, where you'll educate the public about Job Service North Dakota's array of services, labor market information, and workforce development opportunities.
As a Business Advisor, you'll be the bridge between employers and job seekers. Dive into identifying exciting job opportunities, showcasing our website's features like resume searches and job postings, and offering valuable information on training, apprenticeships, and economic development. Your expertise will also guide employers through the wealth of state and federal resources available, including WOTC, internship funding, and training programs.
As part of the Foreign Labor Certification program, you will conduct quality inspections of worker housing provided by employers for temporary or seasonal agricultural employment (H2A) to ensure Department of Labor (DOL) and OSHA standards are met. You will work with employers to schedule inspections, address any problems found, arrange temporary housing if needed, document inspections and violations, and follow-up with Workforce Programs on any violations found.
Travel is required during regular business hours throughout the week for H2A inspections, training, and to perform outreach activities to employers in the following eight counties: Golden Valley, Billings, Dunn, Hettinger, Bowman, Slope, Adams and Stark.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have the following experience/education combination:
- a bachelor's degree in education, business management or related studies, or a human services-related field plus at least two (2) years of related work experience
- OR at least six (6) years of related work experience and high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal Business Advisor will have a diverse set of skills to effectively support employers in their hiring and workforce development efforts. The preferred candidate will have outstanding customer service skills, exceptional communication and listening skills, and strong assessment abilities. Attention to detail, experience in group facilitation/presentation, and the capability to navigate various challenges and obstacles are essential. Additionally, the candidate should be adept at creating a supportive and inclusive environment where all clients feel valued and understood, regardless of their industry, size, or unique hiring needs.
