POSITION: Heating Plant Operator
LOCATION: NDSCS – Wahpeton, North Dakota
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 12-month, benefited position

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Heating Plant Operator Lead, the Heating Plant Operator performs journey-level duties within the heating plant and other related duties as assigned. The position may perform other duties considered necessary for the operation of the heating plant and campus heating distribution system.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Must support the mission, vision, and values of NDSCS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience with high-pressure boiler operations or related equipment and/or mechanical experience
- Ability to work with high pressures and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, heights, and confined spaces
- Basic mechanical skills
- Ability to operate basic hand tools, power tools, computerized workstations, water analysis lab equipment, diagnostic equipment, payloaders
- Ability to lift 50-75 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Boiler operator license comparable to Minnesota 1st Class, Grade B or higher
- Multi-fuel boiler operation experience
- Valid driver’s license

SALARY: $42,000 - $56,000, commensurate with education and experience
