PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Responsible for creating a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of every student; establish effective rapport with students; provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth; and to establish good relationships with other staff members. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to become a responsible citizen and function successfully in society.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains good attendance and punctuality.
2. Conducts instructional activities outlined by the teacher.
3. Provides supervision of students with instruction or activities that may fall within or outside the classroom environment.
4. Maintains a safe and orderly classroom.
5. Follows district guidelines in maintaining classroom management, discipline and confidentiality.
6. Supervises teacher assistant’s duties which may include feeding, toileting, hygiene, positioning, transferring to and from wheelchair.
7. May provide assistance to other staff using crisis intervention techniques and other behavior modification procedures.
8. Maintains confidentiality of information.
9. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned, including those not specifically stated in the teacher absence announcement such as special education assignments, cafeteria/bus/hallway duties, etc.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to work a minimum of five (5) days per month, to include at least one Monday and one Friday
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
