(Part Time - TEMP Position)
The Front Office Assistant I will perform a variety of general clerical duties and special projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Greets and checks- in patients including handing out questionnaire/files, scanning insurance card, and collecting co-payments.
- Schedules appointments for patients.
- Answers phone calls and responds to requests appropriately.
- Calls patients and reminds them of upcoming appointment.
- Verifies/updates patient insurance and billing discrepancies.
- Informs and refers patients of the NEMS’ services and programs.
- Conducts periodic updates of demographic and financial data.
- Transfers triage patients to Medical Clinic team.
- Receives, sorts, and routes daily mail.
- Prepares and sends out mailings.
- Assists in outreach projects.
- Covers staff members at other clinic sites.
- Submits all PCP change requests in EHR for approval
- Checks, responds, and forwards, if necessary, in order to close out patient portal message
- Rotates to other clinic sites or medical departments as required.
- Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a high school certificate or equivalent required.
- Must be proficient in computers.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Prior customer service experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a medical field is a plus.
LANGUAGE:
- Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
- Fluency in Spanish required.
- Fluency in other languages are an asset.
STATUS:
- This is an FLSA non-exempt position.
- This is not an OSHA high-risk position. This is a Part Time position.
