Job Summary: The Ophthalmic Tester is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete all the testing for OCT, anterior segment photography, Visual Field, Fundus photography
- Upload any results of imaging and testing into computer (IOL master, Corneal Topography, OCT, Visual Field, Fundus)
- Scanning documents, prior authorizations, other paperwork into patients’ chart
- Verifying letters (Diabetes, Plaquenil, Referral, etc.) have been sent to appropriate Doctor from previous day, and if not sending the letter
- Calling for labs (Quest) when needed when scribe is unavailable
- Recalls in-between patients and downtime
- Comply with HIPPA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact with patients and employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience in a medical practice or hospital setting preferred
- Experience in an ophthalmology practice preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds.
- Travel to other offices, including Surgery Center as needed
