Responsibilities:
- Perform vital signs assessments, including measuring blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and respiratory rate
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and procedures, such as X-rays
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and managing insurance documentation
- Ensure accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses for billing purposes
- Assist with patient service duties, such as answering phone calls, responding to patient inquiries, and providing general information
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure efficient and coordinated patient care
Skills:
- Proficient in conducting vital signs assessments and documenting patient information accurately
- Knowledge of medical coding procedures and ability to ensure accurate coding for billing purposes
- Strong understanding of medical administrative processes and ability to perform various administrative tasks effectively
- Familiarity with anatomy and physiology to assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care and communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate patient records and manage administrative tasks efficiently
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant certification is preferred
- Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant is an asset
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems is desirable
