What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech Language Pathologist Long Term Substitute position at North Grafton Elementary?
This posting is for a Speech Language Pathologist. The opening is immediate and will run the remainder of the 2024-2025 School Year.
JOB GOAL: Provide therapy to help reduce or eliminate speech and hearing impediments that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments, and then assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community, as appropriate;
- Provide a therapeutic program and develop specific performance objectives to meet individual needs of speech and hearing handicapped children, as prescribed by the Evaluation Team, and collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities;
- Maintain thorough, ongoing records of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as individual students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services. Maintain a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services;
- Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement, and provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate;
- Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, and by self-generated activities that meet district expectations and the requirements for re-certification;
- Share responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of his/her grade/team/department, building and school district, attending all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed;
