North Lake Tahoe Boat Rental is currently accepting applications for many available positions for Summer 2025. Must have housing or connections to housing for summer 2025 to be considered.
Open Positions: Boat Captain: USCG Certified (6-pack minimum)
Work Site: 7220 North Lake Blvd, Tahoe Vista, CA 96148
Training: May 15th through June 1st (approximately 5-7 days in this period)
Season: June 1st through October 15th
Full Time: 4 days a week, 10-12 hours a day

OPEN POSITION: CAPTAIN JOB DESCRIPTION
Operate a 21-26’ open bow passenger vessel on Lake Tahoe.
Present a clean boat for your guest each and every rental, up to 3 rentals a day. (AM PM and sunset cruises are services we offer) Hours vary from 7am-9pm, and we can accommodate flexible scheduling for your individual needs.
Knowing how to operate safely with unpredictable weather is a must. Knowledge of afternoon Sierra winds.
Knowledge of Lake Tahoe geography is a MUST, but will be included in training.
Maintain a safe environment on the boat at all times, docked, driving, anchored ect.
Follow USCG and Lake Tahoe safety guidelines.
Maintain safety equipment aboard the vessel.
Fuel boats as needed.
Assist in light mechanic work on the boat maintenance and repairs.
Will be fully trained in all Dockhand duties for when you are not captaining. This includes maintenance and daily tasks, which will include keeping the dock clean, upkeep of bathrooms, taking trash out, putting away tubes and assisting with coworkers' rentals.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a current USCG license to carry passengers for hire. (OUPV 6-pack minimum)
Able to build rapport naturally with anyone you meet.
Good health and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must enjoy working in an outdoor environment, with different customers daily.
Able to conduct routine daily tasks with limited or no supervision.
Must enjoy entertaining people and communicating with fellow workers.
Must submit results of DOT drug screen urinalysis prior to employment. Results of the drug screen must indicate no use of illegal or dangerous drugs including marijuana. You will be enrolled in a random drug testing consortium for the entire season.

Mechanical knowledge- Volvo Penta experience, Boat repairs, Car repairs, Electrical, Audio
Photo/Video editing skills- Commercials, Tik Toks, Instagram Reels, Stories

Accounting Experience- Quickbooks, Tax Reduction Strategies
Knot Tying - Sailors, Boaters, Arborist, Climbers

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
Starting 20$ with limited experience (range; $15-25K per summer) tips (range; $50-$100 for a half day and $100-$200 for a full day). Paychecks are distributed bi-weekly.
Boat rentals on Tahoe have a high break even cost, but when we hit our mark our employees benefit with the company profits through bonuses.
Company boats for personal use on days off (depending on availability)

Company is required to withhold applicable federal taxes from paychecks.
