Landscape Architecture Summer Internship

Summary:
Under general supervision, this internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in landscape architecture within a parks and recreation environment. The intern will assist with landscape design, site analysis, and maintenance tasks. The role encourages initiative and proactive approach in supporting city projects related to parks, green spaces, and public infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist in the design and development of landscape plans, site evaluations, plant selection, and layout
· Perform semi-skilled horticultural and landscape duties
· Aid in groundskeeping, including lawn mowing, trimming, and irrigation tasks
· Operate various tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems
· Conduct basic maintenance on equipment, ensuring tools and equipment are in good working order
· Assist in researching and implementing sustainable landscape practices
· Observe and participate in ongoing projects, offering input and ideas based on current landscape architecture trends and environment best practices
· Collaborate with the team to enhance parks and recreation areas, contributing to community-focused design solutions
· Other duties may be assigned as needed
Working Conditions:
· This position involves physical labor and outdoor work in a variety of conditions
· Frequently required to bend, kneel, and lift and carry 50 pounds on occasion
· Exposed to moderate to loud noise levels from possible exposure to equipment and outdoor disturbances
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· This position has no supervisory responsibilities
