Major Job Function
1. Street Maintenance. Perform street maintenance by patching, crack sealing, seal coating, installing curb and gutter, cleaning, and sweeping. Prepare area for work, control traffic in the work area, operate necessary equipment, and ensure the area is hazard-free after completion. Set up traffic control devices and assist with traffic control. Remove dead animals or other debris from street surfaces.
2. Installation and maintenance of roadway signs.
3. Storm/Sanitary Sewer Repair. Assist with cleaning sewers, repair line breaks, cleaning catch basins, and installing pipe underdrain.
4. Concrete Work. Prepare the work area by removing debris, measuring and set up the forms for pouring, pour the concrete and finish the concrete as directed.
5. General Maintenance. Maintain equipment, keep vehicles clean and free of debris and litter. Clean the Public Works Department buildings and lot, repair small hand tools and change flat tires, inventory supplies and equipment. Perform carpentry projects as needed. Perform other maintenance activities as directed.
6. Painting intersections.
7. Other Duties as Assigned.
Minimum Requirements for Position
1. Must be at least 16 years old.
2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
3. Must have a valid Minnesota drivers license.
4. Must be able to perform general labor including frequently lifting and/or moving up to 75 lbs. and occasionally lifting and/or moving more than 100 lbs.
Supplemental Information
The position involves 40 hours of work per week. Work hours are generally from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime work may be required due to scheduling requirements or emergency situations.
