Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Varsity Boys Lacrosse Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in leading and developing the boys lacrosse program. The Assistant Coach will help foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth in student-athletes.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Head Coach to implement the program’s philosophy, ensuring alignment with the school’s values and commitment to education-based athletics. The Assistant Coach will be instrumental in supporting practices, games, and the overall development of the program.
The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Support the Head Coach:
•Assist the Head Varsity Coach in implementing practice plans, drills, and game strategies.
•Provide guidance and feedback to players to enhance their individual and team performance.
2.Player Development:
•Help student-athletes improve their lacrosse fundamentals, skills, and understanding of the game.
•Encourage leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship among players.
3.Practice and Game Preparation:
•Collaborate with the Head Coach to organize and run daily practices focused on skill-building, conditioning, and team strategy.
•Assist with in-game coaching, adjustments, and player management.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Reinforce the importance of balancing academics and athletics for all student-athletes.
•Monitor academic eligibility and provide support to athletes when needed.
5.Team Culture and Sportsmanship:
•Help foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
•Model and promote ethical behavior, respect, and good sportsmanship on and off the field.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open communication with the Head Coach, athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and program updates.
•Act as a liaison between players and the Head Coach when necessary.
7.Safety and Wellness:
•Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper equipment use, injury prevention, and concussion management.
•Respond to injuries and emergencies according to school and district guidelines.
8.Compliance with NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Meet all coaching certifications and adhere to all regulations set by NFHS and MIAA.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Previous coaching or playing experience in boys lacrosse, with a strong understanding of the game’s fundamentals and strategies.
•Ability to mentor and support student-athletes in their personal and athletic development.
•Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Previous coaching experience at the high school or youth level.
•Commitment to supporting the Head Coach in building a successful and inclusive lacrosse program.
•Experience working with diverse student populations.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
