Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior Varsity (JV) Girls Lacrosse Coach to help develop and lead the JV girls lacrosse program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the sport and a commitment to fostering a positive, competitive, and inclusive environment. This coach will be responsible for building foundational lacrosse skills, developing teamwork, and promoting personal growth in student-athletes.
The JV Girls Lacrosse Coach will work closely with the Varsity coaching staff to ensure alignment within the overall program. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of young athletes and prepare them for future varsity competition. The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership and Mentorship:
•Provide leadership and mentorship to JV student-athletes, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
•Serve as a role model for athletes, helping them build resilience, discipline, and confidence.
2.Practice and Game Preparation:
•Plan and lead daily practices focusing on skill development, conditioning, and team strategies.
•Prepare athletes for competition, emphasizing game fundamentals and team dynamics.
3.Player Development:
•Assist players in developing their lacrosse skills, including offense, defense, and lacrosse-specific fitness.
•Encourage leadership, self-confidence, and teamwork among the players.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Emphasize the importance of balancing academics and athletics, supporting student-athletes in maintaining academic eligibility.
•Monitor athletes’ academic progress and collaborate with school staff to ensure student-athletes receive the support they need.
5.Team Culture and Sportsmanship:
•Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, ensuring all players feel valued and motivated.
•Promote sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and respect both on and off the field.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, school administration, and other stakeholders regarding team progress and expectations.
•Regularly update parents on schedules, upcoming events, and player development.
7.Safety and Wellness:
•Follow safety protocols for injury prevention, equipment use, and concussion management.
•Respond appropriately to injuries and emergencies in accordance with school district guidelines.
8.Compliance with NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Meet all coaching certification requirements and adhere to NFHS and MIAA regulations, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Previous coaching or playing experience in girls lacrosse, with a strong understanding of the sport’s fundamentals and strategies.
•Ability to develop young athletes and foster teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
•Strong communication and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or youth level.
•Previous playing experience at the collegiate or high school level.
•Commitment to building a positive, competitive girls lacrosse program.
•Experience working with diverse student-athletes.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
