Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) recognize and evaluate sports injuries. They provide first aid or emergency care; develop and carry out rehabilitation programs for injured athletes; and plan and implement comprehensive programs to prevent injury among athletes. Athletic trainers collaborate with medical doctors to provide emergency and follow-up care. They provide a vital communication link between the injured athlete, the physician, the coach, and the athletes family to determine when the athlete can safely return to practice and competition.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Clinical :
- Provides athletic training services to area recreational groups, schools, and other organization as assigned
- Assist with Saturday morning clinics
- Assist with planning and implementing pre-season physicals for athletes
- Remains competent in the following areas :
- Modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrotherapy
- Therapeutic exercise
- First Aide
- Attends and provides continuing education in servicing
- Serves as mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers
- Serves as clinical supervisor for student athletic trainers while completing their hours
