GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The EHS Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of all applicable environmental compliance, health, and safety programs for the facility. The Sitka plant, known as Sitka Sound Seafoods, operates 12 months a year, with peak production during the summer months. This position reports to the corporate EHS Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees all facility environmental, health, and safety compliance programs
- Works with the corporate EHS Department to implement and maintain existing written programs, inspection forms, training curricula, policies and practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (AKOSH, ADEC, EPA, DOT)
- Conducts site-specific training in areas of environmental compliance and industrial safety and health
- Provides site permit and other regulatory data to Corporate EHS for agency reports and submittals
- Performs daily, weekly, monthly and annual environmental compliance and safety tasks
- Audits the facility and identifies deficiencies and areas for improvement, and follows through to verify abatement
- Assists with workers compensation claims and reduction and loss control initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- EHS and Alaska seafood industry experience preferred
- College degree preferred
- Working knowledge of, or ability to learn, environmental and safety regulations that apply to seafood production in Alaska, such as water quality, storm water, solid and hazardous waste management, anhydrous ammonia as a refrigerant (PSM/RMP)
- Willing and able to do this work, with or without reasonable accommodation:

- Influential, collaborative, professional demeanor with effective oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Ability and willingness to live in Sitka, Alaska and work in a seafood processing plant. Conditions may include working in inclement weather and in a cold/wet working environment with inherent hazards such as moving machinery, wet floors, noise, forklift traffic, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is mainly performed in a seafood processing facility. This type of environment has cold/humid conditions, and there is exposure to raw fish in the processing areas. Areas within the plant contain moving and loud machinery. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs; sitting, standing, walking.
