JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Ophthalmic Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ophthalmic technician assists the doctor and staff in providing comprehensive eye examinations and care to patients. They perform various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the ophthalmic practice, helping with both clinical and administrative duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform preliminary vision tests, including visual acuity, color vision, intraocular pressure, reading habitual glasses power and auto refraction.

- Assist with the preparation of patients for eye examinations, gathering medical history, and noting any symptoms or issues.

- Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in ocular evaluation. Includes auto refractor, NCT, auto lensometer, OCT, visual field analyzer, Optos, photometer and other examination lane equipment.

- Support optometrist during patient care by preparing necessary equipment and recording findings.

- Manage appointment scheduling, patient records, and other administrative tasks as needed.

- Ensure all examination rooms and equipment are clean, sterilized, fully stocked, and well organized

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

-Minimum of a High School diploma.
-Prior experience and/or training is advantageous.
-EHR experience preferred

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

-Strong organizational skills.
-Strong multi-tasking skills.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given
assignments.
-Able to work collectively with administration and staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
