POSITION SUMMARY :
Under general supervision, it performs general sonographic procedures in accordance with department protocols. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to the North Shore Medical Center Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
The Ultrasound Tech performs diagnostic ultrasound and DXA bone density examinations of quality and quantity that meets the department standards. The Ultrasound Tech also assists the radiologist in performance of certain ultrasound guided biopsy procedures.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Is proficient in the use of ultrasound and DXA bone density equipment in performing diagnostic examinations of quality and quantity that meets the department standards.
Assesses problems areas relating to the department and works with a radiology supervisory personnel on timely solutions to those problems.
Learns new procedures and stays current in the ultrasound area using continued education opportunities.
Performs quality assurance work relating to the department of ultrasound.
Ensures quarterly preventive maintenance is done on the equipment.
Looks for innovative approaches to improving the overall efficiency and quality of work done in the ultrasound department.
Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
Ensures cleanliness of ultrasound equipment in the examination rooms according to the department standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
