Summary or Purpose
Provide support services and assistance with clients in a non-residential setting and determines their needs and concerns. Provide office and clerical support to assist in efficient operation of the Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist clients to identify and achieve goals utilizing individualized plans or care, treatment plans, or other plans. Observe, assess, and record the progress of client toward meeting objectives.
Provide ethical, legal and professional standards of care and services to clients within scope of authority; supervise behavioral and activities of clients; assure accurate documentation of client services; maintain strict confidentiality in all client matters according to State and Federal laws.
Provide ongoing outreach to clients as necessary, encouraging them to obtain services, keep appointments, and follow-through with any additional services as needed. When in accordance with treatment plans or directives. Transport in North Slope Borough vehicle clients to required counseling, support groups, casework, medical, school and other appointments.
Work as a team member with program counseling, clinical and/or administrative staff in accordance with client's treatment plans. Collaborate with other professionals to provide continuum of care.
Greet and assist visitors. Act as a liaison for all health service agencies to ensure a continued flow of information.
Perform a variety of routine clerical duties including, but not limited to, telephone answering, client intake, updating of non-medical information, typing and/or retrieving client charts, records, and other documents, including schedules, time sheets, and reports for deposit.
Assist in filling out paperwork for various agencies such as but not limited to Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, Public Assistance/Food Stamps, Social Security, Birth Certificates, WIC etc.
Assist with ordering, receiving and storing supplies and equipment.
Operate departmental equipment such as computers, typewriters, adding machines, vehicle, or other equipment as required.
Develop knowledge of available resources.
Consult with supervisor routinely and as needed; follow direction from designated supervisor(s).
Identify and report abuse and neglect to appropriate state entity within time frames required by law.
De-escalate client behavior and initiate crisis intervention as appropriate informing supervisor or on-call clinician of potential or current client issues.
Report immediately any potential client, staff, facility, vehicle or other problems to appropriate personnel. Prepare all necessary incident reports immediately, prior to completing shift.
In the event of an emergency, will follow responsibilities as outlined in the NSB, Health Department policies and procedures, and CEMP manual.
Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of high risk behaviors and possess ability to prevent client exposure to high risk.
Skill in using personal computers and a variety of software applications.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, other Borough employees and representatives from other agencies.
Ability to lift 35 pounds routinely.
Ability to communicate effectively with community members, supervisors and peers orally and in writing.
Ability to exercise sound judgment.
Ability to deal with frustration and conflict.
Ability to support client behavior with positive guidance and set clear and consistent limits.
Ability to act as a positive role model.
Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required
Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required:
High School graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and work related experience.
Applicant must pass a criminal history background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Unit.
One year of separation of receiving any services for substance abuse or domestic violence.
Documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis before contact with clients and annually thereafter.
Ability to obtain CPR and Basic First Aid Certification within the probationary period.
Valid Alaska drivers’ license that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
