Summary or Purpose
Manages the Senior Center and supervises staff and program activities to support the goals of the Health Department; assures that effective and appropriate care is provided in compliance with Borough, Federal and state regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the functions and staff of senior center, evaluates program needs and recommends appropriate actions.
Develops program goals and objectives; develops systems and standards for program evaluation; assures activities are in compliance with all grants requirements, laws, policies, regulations and goals.
Supervises and schedules staff; prioritizes and assigns tasks; develops staff skills and conducts performance evaluations; identifies training needs and provides training for staff; monitors operations to identify and resolve problems.
Provides leadership, counseling and guidance on professional responsibilities and technical skills; assures compliance with staff certification and licensure requirements.
Assesses and reviews client files; assures proper maintenance, storage and confidentiality of program documentation and medical records.
Provides community outreach; coordinates services with other health professionals and agencies.
In the event of an emergency, will follow responsibilities as outlined in the North Slope Borough and program policies and procedures and the CEMP manual.
Respect clients by recognizing their rights and maintaining confidentiality, including HIPAA requirements.
Protect self, co-workers and consumers by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Program, Department and Borough policies and procedures.
Knowledge of records management and documentation requirements.
Knowledge of community resources and support agencies.
Skill in managing a grant-funded program.
Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of standard software.
Skill in supervision, coordinating staff, and delegating tasks and authority.Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required
Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Social Services, Health or Human Services from an accredited institution;
Three years experience with the elderly in any capacity;
Two years of managerial work experience in accounting, grant administration and budgets;
Two years of supervisory work experience in any capacity;
Applicant must pass a criminal history background check conducted by the State of Alaska Background Check Unit;
CPR and First Aid Certifications;
Documentation that the individual is free from active pulmonary tuberculosis.
