Caster Maintenance Engineer

Compensation Range

Summary:  The successful candidate will assure safe continuous operations within budget through proper maintenance, both repair and preventative of the mechanical equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Evaluate equipment performance to identify potential sources of malfunction.
• Assist with the establishment of objectives and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Ensure adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives on how we do things and reducing cost/improving profitability. Recommend modifications to equipment to attain a more desirable level of efficiency.
• Become familiar with all systems to ensure the ability to provide the assistance necessary to maintenance or production departments to keep these systems in good order at all reasonable times.
• Help to achieve the resolution of major equipment failures and deficiencies.
• Work with production and maintenance team members to evaluate equipment performance and propose improvements.
• Preparation of repair and preventive maintenance specifications.
• Projects management to ensure effective and economic completion.

Additional Electrical Responsibilities:

• Work with electrical technicians on day-to-day tasks and electrical improvement projects.
• Increase knowledge of PLC and HMI programming.
• Assist with the creation of electrical job plans.
• Help prepare specifics on purchasing electrical equipment.
• Assist with the obtaining High Voltage safety permits including grounding and lockouts for work on high voltage equipment

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking and problem-solving ability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior intern or co-op engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Prior experience working with production and maintenance staff to evaluate equipment performance and propose improvements
• Prior exposure to developing scope, getting quotations, and working with engineering and construction firms to take projects from conception to execution.
• Prior exposure to new construction or with brownfield additions is desired.
• Previous work experience assisting a mechanical or electrical project engineer with proven success, planning, leading and executing multimillion-dollar projects.

Pay, Shift & Benefits

• Pay based on experience and education

• Weekly bonus payout: up to 63% of base hourly rate x hours worked per week.

• Generally: 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday
