Job Overview:
We are a small non profit inclusive preschool program seeking a dedicated Intervention Specialist to join our team. As an Intervention Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. The position helps children to develop new skills with effective coping skills and positive behavior techniques to reduce maladaptive behaviors. Skills are taught from the following life areas: Social and Emotional Development, Gross & Fine Motor Skills, Communication, Self-Help Skills, Community Safety Skills and other necessary Activities of Daily Living. We work closely in a team-oriented atmosphere. Your role will involve intervention, behavior management, and ensuring the well-being of the individuals under your care. Hours are Monday to Friday within the hours of 8 to 530
Duties:
- Implement individualized intervention plans for individuals with developmental disabilities and autism
- Provide intervention and support during challenging situations
- Utilize behavior management techniques to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment goals
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor and document progress towards treatment goals
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene
- Provide emotional support to individuals and their families
- Attend trainings and workshops to enhance knowledge in the field of behavioral health
Requirements:
- MUST HAVE:
-Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, special education)
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism
- Knowledge of intervention techniques
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who may have challenging behaviors
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job performance
