International Fertility Insurance (goifi.com) is a fast-growing company and is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the medical billing team in the role of Medical Billing Specialist. This position focuses on managing gestational carriers’ bills as self-pay utilizing Intended parents’ escrow funds. The Maternity Billing Specialist plays an integral role in ensuring a smooth financial process for our clients throughout their journey.
What you’ll do:
- Manages Medical Billing for maternity services while maintaining accurate tracking through spreadsheets and organizational systems.
- Communicates via email and phone with Gestational Carriers, Intended parents, Agencies, and Intra-department staff consistently and professionally.
- Conveys to Gestational Carriers our expectations and their responsibilities as a self-pay surrogate.
- Interacts with providers, billing departments, financial counselors, and other various departments to ensure bills are paid while obtaining the maximum discount possible.
- Proactively contacts providers for prepayment, when necessary.
- Obtains cost estimates as needed.
- Analyses all bills, identifies errors, and follows up with providers to ensure resolution.
- Enters accurate payment information into all trackers and systems, while working closely with the accounting team.
- Manages escrow funds while actively communicating to agencies and the accounting team.
- Identifies cases that may be at risk of exceeding the normal and customary charges to anticipate the need to file a claim to Lloyd’s of London.
- Prepares and completes claim ledgers and documentation needed for a Lloyd’s of London claim.
What you need to succeed:
- Experience with medical billing and insurance.
- Knowledge of medical services provided during pregnancy.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team dynamic.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Professional written and verbal communication, exhibiting flexibility based on recipient.
- Competency in using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams etc.)
- 3rd party reproduction/IVF, OBGYN or surrogacy related experience is a plus.
- Medical Billing and/or coding certification or related associate degree is a plus.
