Job Description
Overall Purpose of Job:
• Responsible for the management and coordination of all production floor operations including
safety and morale of employees, molding and assembly operations, housekeeping and equipment
and building maintenance consistent to improve the plant’s performance in safety, cost, delivery,
quality.
• This position oversees the receipt and movement of released product to all necessary
production, inspection, and test areas as subassemblies or end items manufactured.
• The incumbent of this position is accoun for the overall production plan delivery, provides input
to shipment schedules, plans and forecasts as knowledge of production status develops. Identifies
any bottlenecks in the production flow and ensures that necessary labor, material, or support is
applied to relieve the bottleneck applying lean manufacturing systems
Major Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operations to maximize the return on assets
employed. Develop and accomplish actions which minimize manufacturing costs through effective
utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.
• Implement Manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the operations supports
Lean Practices (PMA, 5’s, Problem Solving, Lean Line Design, etc.)
• Establish group and individual accountabilities within his departments and collaborate with
other areas for problem solving and cost reduction.
• Over sees production control activities, (General production output, scrap reporting, shop order
reconciliation, etc.) which ensures material flow through production in support of the production
plans to satisfy business goals and customer demands.
• Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the department and review with
Operations Manager. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to recommend
personnel in order to ensure the highest level of skill & knowledge necessary to meet company
needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the department.
• Support Industrial Engineering in launch of new programs following the GDPIM process.
• Support LPO in new projects from the plant perspective to meet customer & budget
requirements and transitioning them into the operations.
• Develops and implements methods to improve productivity within established payroll and
expense budgets.
• Identifies needed labor continuously and ensures that necessary effort is applied in production
area to ensure correct flow of product to meet production schedule.
• Ensures compliance to HS&E policies & procedures by manufacturing personnel
Job Requirements & Qualifications:

Must be adept at conceptualizing business solutions and presenting
concepts to senior management.

Must be experienced in scrap control and reduction and a Quality
Champion.
Must be Lean Systems knowledgeable and know how to put into practice
(5S, problem solving techniques, tpm, Kan Ban, Yokoten, value stream
mapping, visual management, cell concept)
Must be experienced in scheduling adherence (% of compliance of the
production plan)
High energy level required in order to lead a 24/7 manufacturing
operation schedule and to develop input and decision making as part of
the escalation process
Education and Experience:
• Degree in Plastics Technology or
Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with extensive technical and
supervisory background in a high volume plastic injection molding
operation.
• Minimum of 10 years supervisory
experience in manufacturing management or related field.
• Knowledge of planning, budgeting and
operations in a production environment.
• Full knowledge of Manufacturing
Requirements Planning (MRP) is required. Also procedural knowledge and
good people-management skills.
Technical background in the automotive industry highly
desirable.
Experience in implementing 5S, Six Sigma and Black Belt
initiatives
