Position Overview:
The company is a major manufacturer of fiberglass reinforcements to the Abrasives Industry. The company’s coating, cutting and kitting capabilities expands its customer base to assist the Military, Defense and Public Safety, Automotive and Medical Industries.
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business including production, new equipment/equipment maintenance, quality, and purchasing and to coordinate with the company’s customer service and accounting functions. The Operations Manager is expected to be directly involved with key customer accounts and reports directly to the President of the Company.
In this role you will:
- Ensure the overall delivery, productivity, and quality of the unit's offerings on a daily basis and develop strategies for improvement
- Identify and resolve production problems
- Oversee production planning and scheduling
- Oversee employee scheduling and overtime
- Provide direct management of key functional managers
- Direct interaction with QC Supervisor
- Confirm incoming and outgoing products are within QC specifications.
- Review all CoA’s prior to shipping
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
- Perform accident investigations
- Monitor PPE usage according to company standards
- Ensure availability of key raw materials
- Enter and send purchase orders as needed
- Negotiate pricing with current and new vendors
- Work with environmental outsource to complete all environmental reports including but not limited to:
- TURA
- Tier II
- Source Registration
- Be responsible for hazardous waste reporting
- Annual Hazardous Waste Stream Profile Certification
- Monitor hazardous waste storage area and conditions
- Address customer inquiries promptly and professionally and ensure customer satisfaction
- Identify and engage in key business opportunities with new and existing customers
- Evaluate and decide upon key investments in equipment, infrastructure, and talent
- Communicate strategy and results to the unit's employees
- Schedule regular team meetings to discuss about business updates, issues and recommendations
- Respond to employee concerns in timely manner
- Assist supervisors to investigate and resolve employee conflicts
- Provide disciplinary action as needed
- Complete weekly employee hours and OT reports
- Confirm all driver DOT cards are current and schedule physicals as needed
- Provide direction and guidance to employees in their assigned job duties
- Manage orientations and exit interviews for employees
- Ensure that employees follow company policies and procedures
- Engage with corporate officers in broader organizational strategic planning
- Report key results to corporate officers
- Generate business, cost and employee reports to management
- Lead 20-30 employees through front line supervisors
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Operations or Manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is preferred but not required.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Position Criteria
- An applied working knowledge and experience with manufacturing procedures/practices, Lean, safety and quality assurance, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Shipping & Receiving, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Production Planning, Customer Service, and Accounting.
- Must be able to express ideas clearly to direct, motivate and train subordinates.
- Must be able to communicate clearly to management, professionals, exempt and non-exempt employees in all matters concerning production, quality, safety, product design, customer service etc. to ensure that business objectives are met.
