What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Designer / Drafter position at North West Handling Systems?
North West Handling Systems, Inc., a leader in the design and implementation of material handling
systems and warehouse solutions, has an immediate need for a CAD Designer / Drafter to join our
team on location at our Corporate headquarters in Renton, WA. The CAD Designer will prepare warehouse layouts, detail drawings,
assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams to include all views and dimensions necessary for
manufacture and/or installation of industrial equipment for our customers. This is an entry-level
position for qualified individuals who can demonstrate a high level of proficiency using AutoCAD.
Knowledge of or experience in the material handling industry will be strongly considered.

The Designer / Drafter Will
- Use AutoCAD to develop designs
- Create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly) and installation drawings
- Make final sketches of proposed drawings, checking dimensions of parts, materials used, relation of one part to another, and relations of various parts to whole structure project
- Accompany Project Managers on site visits for field measurements when required
- Use knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings
- Draft detailed multi-view drawings of equipment and systems
- Communicate and work closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and installation regarding new and revised prints
